why did the Prince choose Cinderella over all the other maidens at the ball. What was the moral of the story?
Yeah, I have always had trouble with this also. The moral is that she was chosen in spite of the fact that in real life she was less than glamorous. However, in many of the tellings he met her before, when she wasn’t all done up by the fairy god mother, and he didn’t even give her a second look. So, I think the moral is you need to be hot to catch a prince, because guys will not notice you otherwise.
I often wondered why there were no fairy tales of a Prince falling for a normal girl. There are a lot about Princesses falling for guys based on who they are not how they look. Beauty and the Beast is an example. You never hear the story were turned around, if Beauty were the man and the Beast a Princess with a curse. I think this is a true comment on human nature.
